Administrative support.

Two offices are dedicated to supporting students of the Bachelor in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki: the university-wide Foreign Student Support Unit, which assists international students across all AUTh programmes, and the Programme Secretariat, which handles the day-to-day administrative operation of the MSE Bachelor itself.

This page explains what each office does and how they work together to support you from the moment you accept your place to the day you graduate.

01

Foreign Student Support Unit.

The Foreign Student Support Unit is responsible for the support of foreign students enrolled in the MSE Bachelor, in accordance with the applicable institutional framework of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The mission of the Support Unit is to assist foreign students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the University. Its responsibilities include:

  • Providing information and support to foreign students regarding studies, academic procedures and student life.
  • Offering guidance on issues related to residence permits and communication with the competent public authorities.
  • Supporting procedures concerning the accelerated granting of residence permits for study purposes.
  • Assisting students during their settlement and adaptation in Thessaloniki and in Greece more broadly.
  • Cooperating with the competent University services and external authorities on matters affecting international students.
  • Organising educational and informational activities related to student support and integration.
  • Carrying out any additional responsibilities assigned by the University concerning the support of international students.
— Where to find it
The Foreign Student Support Unit operates centrally for the whole of AUTh. For first contact, write to the Programme Secretariat (Section 02 below) — they will direct you to the right person at the Unit and help you prepare any documents needed for residence-permit applications.
02

Administrative support of the Bachelor.

The Department of Chemistry — the leading department of the joint interdisciplinary programme — has extensive experience in the organisation and implementation of international study programmes, and undertakes the overall administrative and technical support of the Bachelor in Materials Science and Engineering.

The Secretariat of the Programme is responsible for the daily administrative operation of the MSE Bachelor and for the support of students and academic staff. More specifically, the Secretariat is responsible for:

  • Administrative support of the Programme Committee and the Programme Director.
  • Student support regarding enrolment, certificates, academic records and general academic procedures.
  • Communication with the three participating Departments — Chemistry, Physics, and Mechanical Engineering — teaching staff and University services.
  • Coordination of academic schedules, examinations and programme procedures.
  • General administrative and organisational support for the effective operation of the MSE Bachelor.

For any matter concerning your studies — from a request for an academic certificate to a question about an upcoming examination — the Secretariat is your first point of contact. Contact details are at the foot of this page.
